weird day

click for high res

it’s weird. i do e-mail tmnet a while ago, asking solutions for some problems with something but i don’t recall anyone from tmnet calling me. was i sleep-taking? or maybe that is some e-mail reply template. lol.

it’s also weird when somebody using this website for their case study. read em all here.

notice – may 8, 2006

as many of you didn’t know, my website is offline for four days. this is caused by a hardware error at the webhosting company i rent. of course, i was filled with rage. wtf kind of service is this. after they back-up my files, i thought i was saved. but no. their sql database is also corrupted which means, my whole writing life was destroyed. all my 3 years of blogging is now gone. instead of the current data, they gave me the ones which is 4 months old. sucks.

they tell me that the hardware error causing a data corruption. then, they throw more reasons such as the backup hard disk is mirroring the current corrupted files (wtf? mirror? don’t they ever heard of full backup?), database turned into numbered files, etc. they obviously didn’t learn since they had two hard disk crashes in less than one year (they’re using a dell server, mind you).

i think i have a backup database on my notebook but unfortunately for me, it’s from the year 2005, which you can see the post below this (some of the posts have been recovered). lucky i saved all my template files and whatnot. my loss is on the sql database and one or two files which i can’t remember what. bored with all this stuff, i asked them to reset my account and gave me a new and clean one. rebuild a new setting might cheer me up.

the moral is: choose a very good hosting company and always back up your files and database. ;)

aqua therapy

because of the free time, i’ve got myself a new hobby. that is, gardening. that subject actually have a big scope. mine is mainly plant and took care of it and garden decor such as small waterfall, a miniature pond, things like that. the plant i grew mostly kiambang (wtf is this when translated to english?) and waterlilies.

currently, i’m thinking of building a walk path with stones on it. like those therapy stones thingy and probably a miniature waterfall with a koi pond. sounds grand. it’s a hard work. last week, i got myself some koi fish. four of them. apparently one died today which i don’t know what is the cause. well, nevermind. i’ll get some more later.

oh little johnny. why’d you die? why?

purple

i was called to organized my room. tidy up. yeah, probably the piling of papers, books and clothes has finally made my mind realized this is kinda like a pig sty. while picking up things to throw out, i found my old, old, very old autograph book. i thought that thing is missing. there are many memorable entry in there. some were okay, some were poyo, etc. yeah, memories. the design is a bit girly because it is a replacement book. mine was actually nicer but a friend has lost the book. so, she replaced it with a new one. enough with that book and everything else, i shoved it at a box and stored it away. now my room looks better and smells nicer.

then i went to see the movie ultraviolet. some people say it is a great movie this and all. so, i pay rm9 for this. i can’t deny it. the special effects is fuckin’ awesome but the story line…uhh…what kind of story line is that. probably i didn’t understand the comic book well. humans fighting the hemophage? virus? blood? they’re like the vampires and i thought the vampire is immortal. the movie blade rings a bell. it’s true like the character violet say. i was born into a world you can’t understand.

if i knew, i should bought the movie tickets for the sentinel. i’ll probably happy watching eva longoria.

almost

bored. so i asked a friend out for a drink. apparently she choose to drink at nz. actually, i really didn’t prefer that place nowdays. sure before this i went there to hang out. i just went there sometimes. the place didn’t have the ‘flavour’ anymore or ‘vibe’ or whatever.

anywhoo, on my way back from kelana jaya today, i almost hit a racoon with my car. i don’t know if i’m drunk or something but i’m sure or at least i think it is a racoon. in a city nonetheless. the thing just stared at me and not moving. lucky i was not speeding or there’ll be a roadkill and a bloody mess on the tyre, paint job, windsheild, etc…

melaka

it’s a long holiday, so i suggested that we have a family gathering at melaka. few weeks before the big day, i jot down the events and place that we must go there. there are about 4 cars convoy and to ease up on the communcation, dad bought a long range walkie talkie. then, on the event day, something happened that we didn’t expect. a very long and tiring traffic jam. it started before the sungai besi toll and all the way to melaka. damn, that was very frustrating.

we stopped at senawang for a chinese new year visit to my dad’s best friend’s house. the food was okay, and the ang pow was okay too. then, we continue the journey to melaka. it was very slow moving. my back hurts. it was frustrating that i don’t give a damn and use the emergency lane to get through. 4 hours later, we arrived at the destination. i manage to secure a nap before we went to the night zoo. the zoo train tour was fun, the guy who is our guide was funny. animals are cuter in the night. sadly we weren’t allowed to bring camera. camera phone sucks because they don’t have flash.

next day, is the main event. we all went to banda hilir. the town. we start the tour with first, finding a parking. the place was packed. lucky one of my aunt is one of the customs head director and she managed to get us a parking inside the customs building. there are even traffic police escort to guide us into the compound. how cool is that? bitchin’ awesome.

then, it was the usual stuff. first, the maritime museum, then the jonker street, the china town, the little india, the stadthuys, the melaka museum, the st. paul church, the a-famosa and all things around the town. we separated the family into two groups so it’s easy to manage. my group end the day with a lunch at mahkota parade. at night, the young ones went to mahkota parade to watch the ‘buli balik’ movie.

the last day, we went to the bee museum, taman mini malaysia and asean. damn, all things costs rm10 here at melaka. the place was damn hot. but that didn’t stop me to took loads of photos. there are several nice set of them. okaylah for a novice. the journey back to kl was kinda frustrating too. there was this huge traffic jam. started from melaka and all the way to seremban highway. again, my back hurts.

so, that was it. my family gathering at melaka. although it didn’t really go as planned, but it’s okay. mission half accomplished. the important thing is that we all get to hang out and do things together as a family. hopefully we can do this again next year. i was thinking of pulau pangkor.

how was your holiday?

fear factor

first thing first, beware aaa…because this post is quite full with ‘angkat bakul’ thing (yeah mel, i’ll tell the story here and i don’t care…ha ha ha).

i thought the day’ll never come. no need to struggle, no need to be scared but anywhoo it’s all in my dreams. my lecturer, well…bless her do a little twist to the lecture. for our class project, she tell us to do a debate with the group she picked. the title? (media tak terarah lebih baik daripada media terarah) unguided media (wireless) is better than guided media (wire). my group is the proposing team and the only kick is, my group mate is all girls. hmm…that makes me the pimp.

be good

the morning start with me not attending one class. it’s a 9am class and my sleep quota is not full. after class, mel asked me a favor to help him move stuff into his parents cafe. well, since i have nothing to do, i said why not. the place is at sepang. well, not sepang actually. it’s on the border but the postcode is still kajang. moving the big ass fridge is quite sucks anywhoo.

it’s raining and because we have to go to ampang, well, what the hell. we just go through the rain. brr…it’s cold. even my underwear is wet…because of rain…he he. while riding the motorbike home from the place, we saw an old couple at the highway curb. their tyre punctured. uh…being a good samaritan, we help them. after a few kilometers in front, a tiny sand get into mel’s eyes. until that time we realised that he left his glasses at the old couple’s car. lucky for him, the pakcik we help saw the glasses and bring it to us, who is waiting after the toll booth. see kids, doing a good deed really pays. if it is not instant, it will come sooner or later.

done with that, i went to uptown afterwards to celebrate shimi’s birthday. i saw some nice t-shirt there. maybe next time i’ll buy them. done with all my activties, i went home and chill while wathing a dvd. the movie title is d.e.b.s (look it up in imdb if you’re curious). i’m not a fan of the movie actually. i just see it because of a chicks in short skirt and a hot lesbian scene between jordana brewster and sara foster.

ahh…lesbians…

wheel

my friend from oxford penang came to visit me today. he got some work to do here, so he crash at my place. finally we can have our wireless lan party huh? he’s here just for a short visit, so i don’t have the time to bring him jalan-jalan kuala lumpur. maybe later eh?

whee…finally i went to the fun fair. there, i changed my mind about the ferris wheel. it looks boring. so, i rode this revolving cars instead. the mall shopping complex amusement park got one of these. i love speed but when the cars stop moving forward and started to reverse, damn, it gives me headache. i haven’t eat yet, so there is no barfing action going on. those pictures are taken by my friend while i’m on the revolving cars thingy. i also got video but, nahh…nevermind.

chilis

notice the downtime lately? that’s because of my idiot webhost. their backup proses seems like a neverending story. i already tired of e-mailing them. half of e-mail on their inbox might belong to me. anywhoo, the thing is now up and i can post something. hopefully.

dad was here on friday till sunday for business stuff. after he had finished with his work, we all went to chilis for dinner. we have to wait for 10 minutes as there are many people in the line. maybe it’s because the haze have cleared a bit and oh, it is saturday night. most of them are there for happy hour.

i ordered tomato basil chicken pasta. sounds delicious eh? the others…err i forgot what they order. but having tasted all the food, i must say they’re okay. the drinks and classic nachos are bottemless. so, we just order the refill until we’re full.

my rating? of course, it is great for family gathering dinner. it is also fun for happy hour with your friends. enjoy the food while talking with each other. probably not suitable for couples dinner date. the place is noisy. it is understandable but those jackass sitting next to our table is fucking annoying. the stupid girl laughing voice is unacceptable. very high decibel. i think all people in the restaurant agrees. they should learn how to respect other people.

fun fair

i bought something from lelong again. this time it’s a battery charger. i started to think that i need a high-drain battery when i realize i spent a lot of money for my digital camera battery (this thing suck battery like mad). so? high powered rechargeble battery is the answer. maybe now i won’t give the same excuse of no battery when i saw something.

when i hang out with shimi last night, i get to know this man. he’s a referee for mru. the thing is, he knows too many stuff and he like to share it with us. one of those things is character reading. he read mine and well, most of it is true and he dosen’t even know me well. ha, i feel like on a session with a shrink. he tells me what are my weakness, my capability, etc. wow, it’s like someone point a flash light in front of your face. i feel awkward and different after that.

after that grilling session, we went to pesta konvo um. ah…the convocation. happy place, happy memory and happy environment. well, except the haze. i only got time to went there and eat. unfortunaltely, i have something urgent to do. i saw that, they got a ferris wheel. well, i definately will come here before this fair ends.

bukit g

i was about to go home when din asked me and fadly to accompany him to jalan pasar. he wanted to buy spare part for his cd-rw adaptor. he confess to me that he haven’t heard of jalan pasar. it’s me who told him. so, with fadly and i tag along, we can show him the way. i got no problem with that. the only thing is that we have to go through the haze. ahh…it’s like genting highlands. when we arrived there, din started to lose his mind looking at those low price amplifier. yeah, that is the jalan pasar specialty. electronics stuff with low prices. me, i got my eye on this branded cd player for car. maybe i’ll buy it later. thinking of upgrading the car, bit by bit.

after that, just for fun, we went to this hill at melawati for sight seeing. normally, we call the hill ‘bukit g’. did we have fun? probably, with the haze and all…
